Oct. 14, 2019 – HOUSTON – – World Fuel Services has taken a leading role in reducing the aviation industry’s carbon emissions. The results will be on display at business aviation’s largest trade show gathering.

World Fuel Services activities and fuel supply at Henderson Executive Airport (HND) for the National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas, Oct. 22-24 will be carbon-neutral. The company’s energy requirements at the Las Vegas Convention Center, transportation and hotel accommodation for staff, will come from sustainable sources or be covered by carbon offsets arranged by its own expert in-house team, Kinect Energy Group, a division of World Fuel Services.

As a member of the Coalition of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), World Fuel Services supports the business aviation industry’s goal to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2050 including this event, as well as other ongoing activities. Since 2015, World Fuel Services has delivered more than 13.6 million gallons of SAF to business and commercial aviation customers.

“We’ve been at the forefront of sustainability and alternative fuels for the aviation industry,” says Mike Szczechowski, World Fuel Services Senior Vice President of business and general aviation. “It all started with the supply of SAF. As part of enhancing our sustainability offering for business aviation, we now have the global capabilities of our Kinect Energy Group business to complement our fuel supply and aviation services.”

Earlier this year, the company provided fuel for an SAF event at Van Nuys Airport (VNY) and supplied Europe’s first SAF demonstration at Farnborough Airport in the United Kingdom before the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE). The company’s partnership with Clark County, Nevada is another example of the broad expertise, where it is providing SAF at HND for NBAA-BACE aircraft. An estimated 150,000 gallons of SAF are expected to be consumed during the convention weeks.

World Fuel Services will be offsetting its footprint at NBAA-BACE through the purchase of carbon credits supplied by Kinect Energy Group, an energy solutions division within World Fuel Services. Kinect Energy Group delivers trusted energy advice and turnkey sustainability solutions to solve complex energy challenges across a wide range of industries.

Paul Vian, Senior Vice President at Kinect Energy Group says, “We’re proud to support the aviation industry as they help the industry buy better and buy smarter to lower their carbon footprint.” Kinect Energy Group extends the renewable fuel sourcing activities of World Fuel Services, by providing a suite of sustainability offers including solar project sourcing, provision of renewable energy certificates and carbon credits, and emissions tracking.

NBAA-BACE attendees can learn more about SAF, our sustainability offerings and lower carbon energy sourcing, procurement and price risk management at Aviation International News’ “Sustainable Aviation Fuels” program from noon to 1:30 pm, Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Darren Fuller will be a presenter. Trine Braathen and Dale Thielen from Kinect Energy Group will also be present during the convention.
