La Romana International Airport, Casa de Campo, opened in 2000, is a 24-hour airport with one runway (11/29). The airport was built not only to give support to the people living in this area so they wouldn’t have to make the hour-plus trip to Santo Domingo but also to meet the needs of the growing Casa de Campo resort (which ran the old airport and began to exceed its capacity). The airport focuses more on BGA than commercial, as evidenced by the parking stands available for each type (40+ to 7, respectively). From west to east, there is the GA terminal/FBO building and the commercial terminal. Both have their ramps.
There is a vital security control barrier for GA departures that limits access to the GA area. There is no way to enter the area unless you are coming for a flight. This is to help provide a feeling of safety and privacy for the passengers. Once inside the secure area, there are multiple parking spaces and a covered drop-off area. The door to the right is for departures, and the one on the left is for arrivals. This prevents passengers and crew from mixing. Ramp security is just inside the door. After passing through, Customs and Immigration have a desk in the center of the room. The door to the ramp is just beyond them. Inside the building are several sitting areas, with a crew lounge to the left, along with a meeting room that can be reserved. All the handling agents’ offices are properly past the screening area. When exiting the building and going to the ramp, crew and passengers can walk to the aircraft or take a golf cart.
On arrival, the process of leaving the building is reversed. After deplaning, passengers typically take five minutes to exit the airport. A private road can be used if they are staying in the Casa de Campo area villas.
Finally, SOL Aviation provides all fuel via fuel trucks; no hydrants are on the ramps.

Ground Transportation
Servair and Cariports have some vehicles to take passengers and crew to the hotels and other destinations. However, the handlers typically contract a local company to do so.
Catering
There are several catering choices. The main one is called PITIRI. Most of the handling companies use it, and their food is of excellent quality. The airport owns Caribbean Catering Services and mainly focuses on commercial but can extend services to BGA. Finally, Casa de Campo, the resort restaurant nearby, can provide meals for just about any menu.
Security
Security Level: 3
President Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRD) began his presidency on 16 August 2020 after defeating Gonzalo Castillo of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the 2020 general election by a margin of 52.52% of total votes to 37.46%. Along with strengthening the country's strategic relationship with the U.S., modernizing the Dominican Republic's energy infrastructure has been central to the Abinader administration's objectives. High levels of corruption at all levels of government, law enforcement, and business continue to persist throughout the country. Petty theft and violent crime are the primary security concerns in the Dominican Republic. Strikes and demonstrations can disrupt transit and other services. Corruption is pervasive, and the country serves as a central hub for drug smuggling; cartels involved in drug trafficking actively operate in the Dominican Republic. Due to its geographical location in the center of the Antillean archipelago, the Dominican Republic is vulnerable to weather-related natural disasters, such as tropical storms and hurricanes, and resulting floods and landslides.
